Greetings, Sleepers,
Patch 1.4.10.0 is now available on the Public Test Client. It includes new Landsraad missions, performance optimization, and several gameplay changes. We look forward to reading your feedback after you’ve had a chance to test them out!
To assist you with testing, don’t forget to take advantage of the Progression Unlock Panel (only available in the PTC) where aside from getting resources and gear, XP and unlocking Journey chapters, you can unlock faction ranks and crafting materials.
Learn more about our Public Test Clients and how they work here. The best place to discuss the PTC is the relevant Steam Discussion Board and our Discord server exclusively for the PTC.
Highlights
- Five new Landsraad missions across Hagga Basin and Smuggler’s Run!
- Optimized the memory usage for shadows at a distance.
- Tweaked shadow display settings to improve game performance without sacrificing visual quality.
- Did some under-the-hood cleanup in Hagga Basin to improve the overall game performance.
- Made the cargo container heavier so that it is not easily pushed around by other vehicles.
- Players are now pushed off ornithopters at higher speeds. Standing on a flying vehicle enabled unintended combat tactics, particularly in PvP. You can still stand on ornithopters at lower speeds.
- The UNSTUCK menu feature will now work differently inside Overland map dungeons by teleporting the player to the start location. Outside of overland map dungeons the behavior will be the same as before – it will attempt to find the closest valid spot and teleport the player to that location.
Features and Changes
Technical and Stability:
- Added D-pad support to more menus:
- Specialization, crafting, skills, and communinet menus
- Recycler, Repair Station and Fuel Powered placeables
- Landsraad Board and Voting menus
- Loot containers
- Settings and Journeys menu
- Guilds and Players screen
- Menu dropdowns
- Vendor menu and Trading NPCs
- Augment station
- Vehicle inventories
- Remapped some buttons on the Skill menu to allow for D-pad navigation without conflicts.
- Removed Virtual Cursor from Dialogues. Left joystick is now used to navigate directly between options.
- Improved performance/responsiveness when opening the radial wheel.
- Added a warning to the «What you need to know» screen for character transfer that players leave their guild upon transfer. To participate in the Landsraad after transfer, you must either create a new guild and align it with a Great House or join an existing aligned guild.
- Optimized the memory usage for shadows at a distance.
- Tweaked shadow display settings to improve game performance without sacrificing visual quality.
- Did some under-the-hood cleanup in Hagga Basin to improve the overall game performance.
- Performance optimization in the Wreck of Hephaestus second visit during Chapter 3.
- Fixed the Sietch sorting – the Sietch wherein the player’s Character last was, is now the first Sietch listed under that World.
- On closing BGs, the recommended server popup maintains the origin BG host type, this is to ensure that players migrating from private server get recommended private servers in the popup.
- Added option to instantly complete current testing station with optional difficulty to the Progression Unlock Panel.
- Replaced Unique Items with Unique Item Schematics in the Progression Unlock Panel, so as to not bypass the testing of crafting items.
- Changed the ResetSpecializations cheat in the Progression Unlock Panel so it also resets Specialization tracks, instead of just resetting the perks.
- The PTC Unlock Progression Panel will now remain open until dismissed with Esc/Cancel.
Resources, Building, and Crafting:
- The Duelling Ring vendor now limits the stock of Holtzman Shields and Powerpacks that is sold to 5.
- Harkonnen faction vendors will now sell the Harkonnen Enforcer Karpov variant at faction rank 7.
- Removed the stock limit on some of the components sold by the Landsraad Scrip Vendor.
- Reduced the drop rate of «The Ancient Way» in The Old Quarry to be in line with its drop rates in other testing stations.
- Adjusted the ordering of the Smuggler Garage Door to appear near other doors in the building menu.
- Added a new blue colored wall banner variation to the Water Shipper decoration set.
- Changed the text for the «Hidden Caches» trait to better reflect its function of granting extra resources/components.
- Updated the text on the JABAL Spitdart Ranger Augmentation. The item text now mentions that it reduces recoil, and the name has been updated to remove confusion about it affecting range.
Combat:
- When shot with a spitdart rifle, you cannot be propelled in the air anymore. This addresses an issue where it was possible to grief players by launching them into the air, possibly causing fall damage.
Landsraad and Deep Desert
- The Landsraad cycle was previously tied to the Coriolis cycle, but it is now independent. To verify this change, we rescheduled the Coriolis cycle on PTC to run at 08:00 UTC every Tuesday on both test servers. The Landsraad cycle should remain unchanged.
- Time to log off in the PvE Deep Desert or in the PvE area of the PvP Deep Desert is now 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes.
- Players can now only ever respawn back to Hagga Basin from the Deep Desert. This addresses an issue when players would respawn back to Hagga Basin from challenge maps, leaving their vehicle behind.
Vehicles:
- All vehicles that can be recovered are now shown on the vehicle backup tool; there was previously a limit of 5 visible in the UI without relogging.
- Some player vehicles that were in known lost states were sent to the recovery of the vehicle backup tool. These vehicles will be free of cost to recover.
- Add UI notification when vehicle module disassembly is blocked.
- Made vehicle inventory disappear on sandworm attack after a vehicle is destroyed.
Worldbuilding and Exploration:
- Five new Landsraad missions across Hagga Basin and Smuggler’s Run!
- Convergence – Triangulate landmarks across Hagga Basin to uncover a long lost Fremen relic.
- Sample Recovery – Hunt for sandworm samples hidden beneath the sands of Hagga Basin by a Maas Kharet defector.
- Clear the Run – Crush the Maas Kharet in Smuggler’s Run to avenge a fallen Great House member.
- Watching the Run – Set up a surveillance operation of the Smuggler’s Run for a Great House.
- Terminal Velocity – Recover an experimental sandbike engine lost during an earlier run of the Smuggler’s Run.
- Tweaked difficulty scaling settings such that the following hazards are no longer scaled in Overland map testing stations:
- Radiation: Suit durability damage and stacks per tick
- Poison: Hazard duration, explosion size, explosion delay and stacks per tick
- Explosive: Hazard duration, explosion size, explosion delay and stacks per tick
- Quicksand: Sinking speed for both characters and vehicles
- Reduced the health of bosses in dungeons when 4 players are in the group by ~20%.
- Removed sun exposure in Ruins of Tsimpo and Wind Pass.
Story, Journey, and New Player Experience:
- Players can now use split stack in the Delivery board for Contracts, if it’s available.
- Added new intro and outro cinematic to Zantara’s dialogue in Harko Villiage. Updated dialogue with new camera and animations.
