Skills & Schools of the Imperium – Planetologist

Greetings Sleepers,

Planetologists are part scientist, part explorer – trained to survive in hostile environments while beginning the process of terraforming. Their training is extensive as they are the frontline exploration force of any new planet discovered by the Imperium.

Take a look at what they can do in our fifth and final Schools of the Imperium showcase.

Planetologists are driven by curiosity. Their skillset is invaluable to anyone hoping to make a life on Arrakis and includes improved harvesting methods, expert vehicle maintenance, and even water discipline.

Take a look at some of their early skills:

Cartographer: You can now create sinkcharts of the areas revealed by your surveys. These function as maps which you can give or sell to other players, a valuable advantage in the ever-changing Deep Desert.

Dew Gathering: Careful manipulation of the Holtzman field on the dew reaper allows you to increase the water yield.

Suspensor Pad: Drop a suspensor device that launches you (and anyone who steps on it) into the air. Useful for navigation and traversal.

Note that Planetologist is the only School that isn’t available in character creation. You must train to be a Planetologist after. To do so, find Derek Chinara – he’s camped in a shaded hideout in Hagga Basin South, near an Imperial Testing Station. If you can help him find out what happened inside the old station, he will get you started on the Planetologist’s path of survival and exploration.
