Greetings Sleepers,
The new Update 1.4 is officially available. This update introduces two new locations and new Landsraad missions. In addition, the Water Wars DLC launches today, adding Water Shipper–themed building pieces and cosmetics.
The Wind Pass
Once a Harkonnen tech hub, the Wind Pass is now controlled by the Water Shippers and serves as a key center of Arrakis’ water trade. This location also brings five new Landsraad missions with unique rewards.
The Old Quarry Testing Station
A scalable new Testing Station where players will face Dr. Jalanta, a devious new boss with her own set of unique mechanics, hidden deep within her secret laboratory.
Self-Hosting Now an Option
Players can now self‑host Dune: Awakening battlegroups on their own machines and customize their experience. Hosts can adjust various settings through configuration files to tailor server behavior. Among a myriad of other settings you can tweak, you can also adjust the balance of PvE and PvP, even making your server fully PvE or PvE if you prefer. This feature is still an early iteration and will continue to evolve
PVP Now Optional
Approaching the one‑year anniversary, the game has received more than 15 updates — including the recent change making PvP fully optional, giving players full control over how they experience Arrakis.
Bigger Things to Come
Update 1.4 is not a Chapter update. It’s a smaller release while the team continues work on major upcoming content. Beyond the recently discussed Polar Cap map, even more is in development: new features, new content, and the continuation of the main story.
Sale and Community Event (May 22nd — June 1st.)
To celebrate the launch of Update 1.4, Dune: Awakening is 40% off on Steam, bringing the price below $30 / €30. Funcom is also launching the Community Challenge: Secrets of the Water Shippers, challenging players to complete The Old Quarry and Wind Pass Missions as many times as possible. If all milestones are hit, there are two unique weapon variants to unlock: the Vivisectionists Bone Saw, and the Asteroid Harvester Maula Pistol.
