NEW FEATURES

Single-Player

When you first start the game, you will choose between single-player and multiplayer. If you have played the game before, you won’t be able to transfer your multiplayer character into single-player, you will need to create one specifically for this mode.

Single-player offers three preset difficulty levels for the survival experience, or full manual customization of individual settings. Single-player plays very similarly to multiplayer, with a few key differences:

  • You can select different difficulty presets, or customize your experience with a wide arrange of settings. You can even adjust these settings at any time during gameplay so you can tweak and craft your own experience in Arrakis.
    • Some of these settings include:
      • Enable or disable sandstorms
      • Resource harvesting rate multipliers
      • Experience points rate multipliers
      • Base building piece limits
      • Item durability settings
      • Base decay rate
      • Sandworm auto-spawn
      • Coriolis storm auto-spawn
      • Adjust what drops on death
      • …and much more! Check it out!
  • The Deep Desert is fully available with all its content and challenges, but the map never resets and your buildings are never wiped. The Coriolis Storm remains as a weather event but is less destructive.
  • The Coriolis storm no longer instantaneously kills the player and wipes the Deep Desert, thus allowing players to keep their progress in this map.
  • The Landsraad endgame simulates other players engaging with the faction conflict, keeping it competitive and engaging.
  • The Exchange now acts as a vendor with a large selection of items.
  • Both Arrakeen and Harko Village can be visited.
  • The Landsraad simulates other guilds to ensure a dynamic and believable Landsraad competition that progresses even without player participation, with cycles especially adapted to the Single Player experience.
  • The Cartographer skill now extends the player’s Fog of War reveal radius.
  • Player start locations are limited to a smaller area for improved pacing.

Character-Centric Experience

Create and browse through your characters from the main menu and choose where to bring them each time you play.

  • On first boot, there is now a selection of common settings and then a choice between Single or Multiplayer, with difficulty options available for Single Player.
  • On subsequent boots, there is a new cave environment in the Main Menu where the last used character is front and centre as usual and ready to Continue.
  • A new addition is the Characters tab:
    • From here all available characters can be cycled through, with information about playtime, servers, location etc – and can be used to return to a previous game session directly.
  • Optionally you can choose to change server on each Multiplayer character. Here’s how character portability works:
    • Single-player characters remain exclusive to the single-player mode.
    • Characters on private servers can move between private servers. Private server characters can also go to self-hosted servers, but not go back again.
    • Characters on self-hosted servers can move between self-hosted servers.
    • Official server characters can be played on any official server and can even be moved to a private or self-hosted server (but not back again, to ensure the integrity of official servers).
    • Bases and vehicles you back up will come with you.

This lets you focus on your characters and decide where to play them each session, just make sure you back-up your bases and vehicles before you transfer.

FEATURES AND CHANGES

Technical and stability:

  • 🤝 Major performance changes coinciding with the console launch. Widespread improvements to world streaming, rendering, memory, UI and physics.
  • Private and self-hosted servers can now edit server settings via .ini files and they are properly applied to clients.

Resources, Building, and Crafting

  • Cooldown for using the base reconstruction tool is now set to 0 in Hagga Basin South.
  • 🤝 Restructured the probability curve for augment stat rolls to be on more of a bell curve than an exponential curve.
    • This means that it’s now significantly more likely to get better augments stats when crafting, however the odds of getting the maximum roll are still the same.
    • Overall, each augment crafted should be in a good stat range much more often.
  • The Heavy Metal Blade Coating Augment is now available as Grade 3+ instead of the prior Grade 4+. It can drop in loot of the appropriate difficulty.
  • 🤝 Increased the volume capacity of the Medium Storage Container from 3500 to 4000.
  • In an effort to make the endgame more approachable for Single-player and those who play solo, Spice Melange was removed from the building cost of the following placeables:
    • Advanced Garment Fabricator
    • Advanced Survival Fabricator
    • Advanced Vehicle Fabricator
    • Advanced Weapons Fabricator
    • Medium Chemical Refinery
    • Augmentation Station
  • Decreased taxi cost to social hubs to 500 solari, and tradeposts to 150 solari.
  • Moved the “Contemplation Tea House Baliset” into the Deco category from the Furniture category in the Construction Tool.
  • Moved the “Contemplation Tea House Tea Service” into the Ornamental category from the Furniture category in the Construction Tool.

Combat:

  • 🤝 Restructured the way difficulty and reward scaling works in overland dungeon maps to make the overall experience more rewarding for the amount of effort invested.
    • The current scaling for enemy health and damage at difficulty 20 is now instead at difficulty 30. For example, previously difficulty 20 applied a roughly 1700% increase in enemy health and damage. Now, difficulty 30 applies a 1750% increase in enemy health and damage.
    • Prior difficulty levels are scaled accordingly towards this value and further difficulty levels retain the same level of increase per level as previous: 50%.
    • The grade of items and augmentations that drop have had the following changes:
      • Grade 3 Items and Augmentations no longer drop after Difficulty 20.
      • Grade 5 Items and Augmentations now drop less often at Difficulty 20, and are instead awarded where the challenge level is similar to the previous difficulty scaling. Grade 5 rewards will still begin at Difficulty 20, but will be less common, as the challenge level is lower than before.
      • Grade 4 Items and Augmentations will drop less frequently starting from Difficulty 27. This is to make more room for an increase in Grade 5 rewards as the difficulty level increases. This change to the reward structure and difficulty progression overall will grant better rewards for the level of challenge, and allow for a smoother progression up to Grade 5 rewards.
      • This is also to allow for easier replacement of Grade 5 gear since the acquisition of Grade 5 gear isn’t the end of the overall gearing journey.
    • In addition, the amount of bonus health bosses have in 3-player and 4-player groups has been reduced to further incentivize group play.
  • Made it possible for players to dash through other characters.
  • Taking health damage while in second wind will return all the stamina and free the character from the state.
  • Extended i-frames when players enter DBNO and when they recover from DBNO.
  • Heavy melee attacks now do the same damage as shield penetrating attacks.
  • Holding right click after successful parry should take you back to blocking state with sword, dagger and dual blades.
  • Updated Daggers, Swords and Dual Blades to return 10 stamina to the player on successful parry.
  • Tuned melee soft-lock for both controller and mouse & keyboard.
    • On a controller, it will no longer use the camera orientation to influence target selection.
    • On mouse & keyboard, it will be more respectful of direction input.
  • Melee soft-lock now triggers only on attacking or getting hit by an NPC, not just on getting close to them.
  • Made player character rotate more quickly towards enemy attackers when blocking.
  • Central Stamina Bar will now be shown when the players engages melee soft-lock vs a target.
  • Added slower melee opening attack for NPCs making them easier to parry.
  • Parry window duration increased from 0.25 to 0.33s for swords, daggers, and dual blades.
  • Decreased the range where NPCs can trigger the Suspensor Blast ability, forcing them to get closer to their target Adjusted NPC stamina and dash costs to the following standards:
    • Copper to Aluminum tier enemies are able to dash out of any stagger effect once before running out of stamina. After they dash out of a stagger effect, the next attack against them will put them into second wind, making them completely vulnerable to attack for a time.
    • Duraluminum and Plastanium tier enemies are able to dash out of basic stagger effects twice and ability-inflicted stagger effects once before running out of stamina. This allows higher tier enemies to provide more of a combat threat against simple staggering attacks, but countering ability usage will cost them their entire stamina pool, leaving them vulnerable to follow up attacks once damaged.
  • 🤝 Reworked basic combat encounter experience around new engagement circle. This means that when in combat situations where you’re surrounded by NPCs, the experience should be smoother and more engaging with tweaked NPC behavior. Try it out!
  • Endgame bosses are now immune to damage before the fight starts to address possible exploits.
  • Added health bars to boss fights from the main story.
  • Removed Suspensor Grenade ability from most NPCs.
  • Decreased Assault enemies health by 15%.
  • Reduced the amount of damage Plastanium-tier enemies deal with melee weapons by ~20%.
  • Low tier rushers no longer do lunge attacks.
  • 🤝 Decreased number of NPC ads in certain boss fights when players are in a group of 4.
  • Changed the cooldown for The Old Quarry boss fight minion anti-air projectiles.
    • Previously, the cooldown was of 1 second and calculated per-group. From now on, it is calculated per individual NPC and changed to a range between to 7.5s-10s.
  • Increased suspended travel ability cooldown (from a flat 8s to a range between 10s-12.5s) in the Old Quarry boss fight.
  • Reduced the accuracy of Heavy type NPCs at long ranges.
