hagga basin
The Hagga Basin is a massive depression in Arrakis’ outer crust, protecting it from the worst of the planetary Coriolis Storms that scour most of the planet. Thanks also to the Shield Wall mountain range, it is one of the few locations on Arrakis where people permanently reside, aside from the hidden Fremen Sietches. Hagga Basin contains a variety of geological formations and unique environments, such as the iron-rich sands of the Vermillius Gap, the deep Hagga Rift, the comparatively lush O’odham, the irradiated Seol, to name but a few.
Arrakeen
Arrakeen, the traditional seat of the Imperial government, and where House Atreides has chosen to establish themselves, is small by Imperial city standards. In the Battle of Arrakeen, Harkonnen and Sardaukar forces attacked the city but were driven back by the outnumbered Atreides defenders. Eight years later, repairs to the city still continue, as the Atreides fortify their position.
The deep desert
Beyond the Shield Wall lies the endless dunes of the Deep Desert. The heat is unimaginable, but so are the riches. Huge shipwrecks are brought down by coriolis storms, ripe for scavenging. Great spice blows bloom on the horizon, their fortunes painting the desert. Those lucky few who venture out there and return report wild stories of buried testing stations and sandworms that defy known data.
Harko Village
After the atomic destruction of Carthag, the Harkonnens have settled in what was once Korona Village, built by House Richese around two hundred years ago, when they were siridar governors of Arrakis. The Harkonnens renamed it Harko Village, and made it their interim capital while they rebuild Carthag.
